The Green Knowledge Network Meet at The Greenest Hotel in the UK

Save Energy Group is part of the Green Knowledge Network of local businesses that are passionate about environmental issues.   Even though it was extremely wet – and cold, many of us headed to The Green Hotel in Bournemouth this December to discuss all that is green.

The group were joined by Save Energy Group:

Nigel Hedges, President of Bournemouth Chamber of Commerce
http://www.bournemouthchamber.org.uk

Jon Cullum from Green Wing UK - http://www.greenwinguk.com

Neil Bainton of LED-Zip for green LED lighting - http://www.led-zip.co.uk

Brian Butler of Dorset Bio Solutions  - http://www.dorsetbiosolutions.co.uk

The venue was of very special interest as the greenest hotel in the UK.  Over the past four years they have completed over 100 projects to ensure everything about the hotel has been designed without impacting on the environment.  From carpets, wood flooring, beds, bedding, upholstery, electrical products, cleaning materials and toiletries and so on.

The hotel is heated through a combination of solar thermal panels on our roof and the heat produced by the Combined Heat and Power unit that produces much of their electricity.  All the pipes are insulated and we they have installed thermostatic valves on all radiators to allow them to be turned off when rooms are not in use.  The lighting is also run intelligently so that it turns down when not required.
The hotel is not only fascinating because of its green credentials, is also an extremely beautiful and tastefully decorated building, with an exciting menu that changes every day.

Well worth a visit.
