On Monday 31st October 2011 the government announced the new Feed in Tariff (FiT), effective 12th December 2011.

This change is well in advance of the initial March 31st 2012 deadline, and sees the current 43.3p per kilowatt hour reduced to 21p. 

The new tariff will affect customers whose installation is not completed and registered by the 12th December. Any installations prior to this date will still receive the 43.3p.

This decision is now being lobbied by industry associations.  Howard Johns of the Solar Trade Association that represents 4,000 manufacturers, said: “We will do everything we can to challenge this.”
